Abstract
Fibrous dysplasia is a bone disorder of unknown origin in which normal bone is replaced with fibrotic tissue and disorganized bone trabeculae. The temporal bone is known to be rarely affected. Because of the slowly progressive course of the disease, many cases are diagnosed incidentally through an imaging study without any symptom. Here, we report one rare case of histologically confirmed fibrous dysplasia of the temporal bone which was initially misdiagnosed as a cholesteatoma of middle ear. Surgical outcomes of hearing and symptomatic relief were satisfactory in this 25-year-old symptomatic female patient.
